The United Kingdom has moved its largest warship, and a number of other ships, to the South China Sea.
London has said it is focusing on the region amid increased Chinese activity in disputed waters.
Experts said that China, which has shadowed the British fleet with ships of its own, considers the UK's Carrier Strike Group's presence to be unfriendly, but the warships have thus far steered clear of islands claimed by China.
