Elections are happening all across the UK this Thursday, but there’s only one winner – Tiger Patel.
The Conservative candidate for the Audley and Queen’s Park ward of Blackburn council in Lancashire, released one of political history’s most bizarre campaign videos.
In the one-take film, Patel – a big fan of Boris Johnson – moves slowly through a run-down children’s playground, presumably to highlight its neglect, before ending up standing triumphantly on a climbing frame. Beneath him, a picture of male genitalia and the word ‘suck’ are graffitied.
The graffiti may not have been part of the artistic vision, but the soundtrack certainly is. Tiger’s prowl is scored with the song Tabdeeli Ayi Re by Pakistani artist Jawad Kahlon – played on a mobile phone and, at 1:30 in, interrupted by a text notification.
Comical accident or commentary on Patel’s aim to ‘disrupt’ local politics? You decide.
Either way and no matter what the result of the vote, it’s time for Joe Exotic to move over – because there’s a new Tiger King in town.
