The British prime minister has apologised to the nation after admitting to attending a garden party in Downing Street during the 2020 lockdown when his own government was enforcing strict measures confining millions of people at home.
Much will depend on the inquiry into the Downing Street and Whitehall parties, and whether the Conservative Party decides that Boris Johnson is now a liability.
