Opposition parties in the British Parliament lambasted Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday after he barely passed the vote of confidence earlier this week.

Forty-one per cent of lawmakers from the ruling Conservative Party tried to oust Johnson as their leader, as Transparency International U.K. called for reforms to restore trust in politics and ensure its oversight.

“Week after week, I've called on this prime minister to resign. I've been met with a wall of noise from the Tory benches. I thought they were trying to shoot me down. But all this time, Mr. Speaker, it turns out that 41 per cent of them have been cheering me on. Mr. Speaker, let's be clear. At least the numbers don't lie,” said Scottish National Party Leader Ian Blackford.
