Two mudslides near Lillooet, B.C., have trapped more people in their vehicles as the province's latest atmospheric river continues to cause damage.

Earlier on Monday, Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth told reporters that about 275 people were stuck in their vehicles along Highway 7 in Agassiz due to flooding and mudslides, and that Canadian Forces helicopters would begin flights to rescue them.

Later that afternoon, Farnworth said a mudslide near Lillooet had penned about 50 vehicles, while another slide in the same region, near Haig, trapped an unknown number of vehicles. Ministry crews and the Pemberton Search and Rescue team were activated to rescue them, Farnworth said, adding they were now being housed in Pemberton.
