Turkish President Recep Tayyipp Erdogan has re-appeared after a short illness to open a Russian-built nuclear power plant.

Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin both dialled in via video link to unveil the Akkuyu power plant. The facility is expected eventually to meet about 10% of Turkey's electricity needs. It's the first time Erdogan has been seen since he got sick during a TV interview. He's facing a tough election battle as he seeks a third term in office.

Although the election is not until next month, Turkish citizens living in Germany have already begun voting. Germany's population of expats is Turkey's biggest. It could also play a crucial role in whether Erdogan is able to stay in power.
