White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday that former president Donald Trump's arraignment in New York was not a focus for President Joe Biden, but the administration was "prepared" for any potential unrest.

Jean-Pierre would not comment further on if they were aware of any potential credible threats.

Jean-Pierre also responded to a question about why Biden has spoke on national issues, such as the Jan. 6, 2021 riots which also saw the arrests of hundreds of people, yet would not speak on the arrest of a former president. She said that Jan. 6 was a "devastating day" to American democracy and needed to be spoken about, but said Trump's arraignment is a criminal investigation that is ongoing so the White House would not comment or "politically interfere."
