Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Friday morning, during a press conference in Singapore, that he would “willingly” testify “with very much enthusiasm” in the inquiry into foreign election interference allegations being led by Quebec judge Marie-Josée Hogue.

Trudeau said a public inquiry would “demonstrate clearly the responsibility of other countries to cease their interference activities.”

“I think it’s important for Canadians to know everything this government has been doing with regards to foreign interference and to talk frankly about the challenges that we continue to face in our democracies around the world,” he said.

Hogue will be tasked with examining and assessing interference by China, Russia and other foreign states and non-state actors during the 2019 and 2021 general elections at the national and electoral district levels.
