But new research out of the U.S. suggests there’s an even more urgent need to limit your child’s screen time. The recent study, spearheaded by a researcher in San Francisco, found alarming links between excessive screen time and suicidal thoughts in pre-teens.
The study, which looked at more than 11,000 children in the U.S., found that each additional hour of screen time increases the risk of suicidal behaviours by nine per cent.
As Katherine Ward explains, there are some simple steps that families can take to moderate the risks.
