A group of activists were detained by police as they attempted to reach the Chinese embassy in New Delhi, on the 62nd anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising on Wednesday.
Protesters chanting were dragged by police officers into buses as they were heard chanting 'free Tibet' and taken to the police station. According to reports, up to 70 protesters were detained.
The protesters were from the Tibetans Youth Congress and other Tibetan Student organisations.
Sonam Singh, the General Secretary of Tibetan Youth Congress said they demanded China stop their repressive policies in Tibet and release all political prisoners.
