Thousands of Torontonians weren’t getting water bills. Now, they'll pay for it

More than 7,000 Toronto residents are receiving catch-up bills, after their water meter transmitters broke and stopped sending usage readings to the city. The city plans to replace all the transmitters across Toronto, just nine to 14 years after they were installed. CBC's Angelina King has more.

Update: After this story was published, the City of Toronto said 30 per cent of its water meter transmitters broke, numbering 141,000. It also provided the total number of transmitters in the city, 470,000, all of which are being replaced.
