Thousands of climate protesters marched through the streets of Brussels on Sunday, in a push for rapid action from governments on climate change just two weeks before the COP27 conference in Egypt.

According to Belgian TV network RTL-TVI, about 25,000 people took part in the demonstration, chanting "another world is possible" as they marched past European Union (EU) institutions.

EU countries' climate ministers are set to meet on Monday to attempt to approve their negotiating positions for the COP27 climate summit, which begins Nov. 7. The EU has pledged to cut its net greenhouse gas emissions 55 per cent by 2030, from 1990 levels.
