Tropical Storm Ana has wreaked havoc in Madagascar, bringing heavy rains, floods and mudslides in the capital Antananarivo.
Thousands have been evacuated and 20 districts are on high alert.
People living in impoverished areas with poor drainage are more vulnerable to flooding.
Many rescue teams have taken to boats to navigate the high waters, others are organizing freshwater supplies, hygiene packs and food.
Al Jazeera’s Laura Burdon-Manley reports.
