G20 Summit Live Updates: India is hosting the G20 summit for the first time and the first day of the Summit was concluded successfully with New Delhi inviting the African Union as the permanent member of the group at the sprawling Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi's Pragati Maidan for the 18th G20 Summit.

On the first day of the summit, PM Modi in his address to the world leaders called upon G20 members to grant the permanent membership of the group to the African Union. With G20 members' agreement, PM Modi invited the President of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the African Union (AU), Azali Assoumani to take his seat as the Union becomes a permanent member of the G20.
