After our Latin America Correspondent Guillermo Galdos and camera operator Rodrigo Galdos accompanied one group on a gruelling six-day trip - seeing first-hand how sickness, injuries and roving armed gangs threatened the lives of those risking it - we travel to where many of those who pass through the Darien Gap end up - the town of Matamoros, on the Mexico-US border, where a new life in America is tantalisingly close.
A warning, the report contains distressing testimony of their journey.
