For generations of Australians, asbestos was part of everyday life; whole suburbs were made of it. The material was cheap, plentiful and easy to use. But it was lethal. Every day more and more Australians are dying from the cancer caused by asbestos dust and fibres. Thousands have already died and more frightening still, contamination takes only the briefest exposure. It's all thanks to some of our biggest companies, especially the asbestos kings, James Hardie. First they hid the truth, and then they flatly refused to foot all the bill for their deadly legacy.
