All great stories of the sea tend to end in disaster, usually involving reckless human error in which people take the sea for granted. Such is the story of HMS Bounty. The first Bounty was burned to the water line off Pitcairn Island by Fletcher Christian, after history's most famous mutiny. The second Bounty was a twentieth century replica, built for the 1962 movie starring Marlon Brando. Last year, it too sank, after deliberately sailing straight into Hurricane Sandy - one of the worst storms ever recorded. It was an unbelievable decision on the part of her skipper. One of the crew to perish was Claudene Christian, a descendant of the original mutineer, Fletcher.
