The Fans Who Make Football: PSS Sleman | Featured Documentary

In global football fan culture, this small Indonesian Liga 1 team can easily be called one of the world's most loved clubs.

PSS Sleman has reached global fame thanks to its "ultra" fan club, Brigata Curva Sud (BCS).

BCS are a splinter group, having broken off from Slemania - the hooligan faction of PSS Sleman's fan body - and embraced a creative, non-violent approach to show their loyalty.

Their merchandising efforts have been so successful that BCS sponsors its beloved PSS Sleman.

In the first of a six-part series exploring the stories of iconic football clubs and their fiercely dedicated fans, our film follows the Slemani ultras and looks at how female ultras have challenged cultural norms and helped change the face of football fandom.
