Tesla holds production in Germany over Red Sea crisis | DW News

The escalating conflict in the Red Sea with the US and Great Britain launching airstrikes against the Iran-backed Houthi militia has massive impact on the economy. Car manufacturer Tesla recently announced to halt production in Germany due to supply chain disruption. More companies are expected to follow. Since December, major shipping companies including Germany's Hapag-Lloyd began travelling the longer and more costly route around the Cape of Good Hope, which takes container ships an additional two weeks and oil tankers one more week than travelling via the Suez Canal.
