Singer and songwriter superstar Taylor Swift gave a commencement speech for NYU's Spring 2022 graduation at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday after accepting an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from the institution.

In the 20-plus minute speech, the Grammy-winning musician spoke about facing criticism while growing up in the music industry and suggested “life hacks” to the new graduates.

“Never be ashamed of trying. Effortlessness is a myth,” she said.

Swift also advised graduates to “learn to live alongside cringe” and accept failure.

She concluded her speech by telling graduates that making mistakes is inevitable but “when hard things happen to us, we will recover, we will learn from it, we will grow more resilient because of it."

"As long as we are fortunate enough to be breathing, we will breathe in, breathe through, breathe deep and breathe out. I am a doctor now so I know how breathing works."
