In a shift of policy, Tanzania has begun a COVID-19 inoculation campaign.
The new president, Samia Suluhu Hassan, received her Johnson & Johnson jab.
The late John Magufuli, her predecessor, had dismissed the threat from the virus.
He died in March of heart complications amidst rumours of falling ill from the disease.
The country is in its third wave of the disease and has so far officially recorded only 29 deaths and 858 cases; numbers thought to be vastly underreported.
Health workers, the elderly and those with underlying conditions are on the priority list to receive one of the more than a million Johnson & Johnson doses donated by the United States through the World Health Organization's COVAX initiative.
