In less than two days, Cyclone Nivar has turned into a very severe cyclone and headed towards the east coast to make its landfall about 150 km south of Chennai, near Puducherry between Karaikal and Mamallapuram. The weather office said the cyclone 220 km south-east of Chennai already has a wind speed of 110 kmph, which would cross 155 kmph while crossing; it is strong enough to leave devastation in its wake. Puducherry has shut down till tomorrow and banned crowds from assembling.
