Tamil Nadu celebrates the harvest festival of Pongal amid the pandemic. Today is the first day of the Tamil month of Thai, believed to usher in prosperity. People worship Sun God for a bountiful harvest. It's a four-day long festival that began yesterday with Bhogi, with the burning of discarded items. Jallikattu, the taming the bull festival begins today with severe restrictions amid concerns of animal cruelty. All worship places in the state would remain shut for public this festive season to avert large gatherings. NDTV's Sam Daniel report on this harvest festival and it's relevance for urban communities.
