Taliban militants have assumed control of a former US base on the border of Pakistan.
The site, formerly known as Camp Chapman, was one once a base for the CIA’s operations in Afghanistan. The base later became a major counterterrorism hub which was used by US special forces and Afghan allies.
Classified documents and equipment used to train Afghan forces are believed to have been destroyed by departing US troops during the withdrawal of Western soldiers from the country.
