Taiwan, widely praised as a success for its handling of COVID-19, reported 335 new cases Monday in a record single-day rise.
Singapore and Hong Kong are both rapidly imposing aggressive restrictions at home and tightening travel between each other.
Vietnam had also been recording relatively few cases from the start of the pandemic, but is now struggling with its worst outbreak.
