Rescuers in Taiwan are still searching for 18 people who went missing after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit the island's east coast earlier this week.

Hualien Mayor Hsu Chen-wei said four foreigners — two Australian-Singaporean dual nationals, one Indian, and one Canadian—are among the missing.

Meanwhile, workers are preparing to demolish a quake-hit building in Hualien that has been slanting precariously since the earthquake struck.

The captain of the Kaohsiung Search and Rescue team, Su Yu-Ming, expressed concerns that rainfall could trigger rockfalls and landslides, thus making their rescue mission more challenging. However, rescuers have managed to airlift survivors from a mountainous area of Taiwan.
