Taiwan’s air force conducted drills to simulate a war scenario on Tuesday. The exercises took place just two days after the country’s air defence identification zone was breached twice by several Chinese planes.
China is due to start a large-scale military exercise on Thursday in the disputed waters of the South China Sea.
It comes at a time of increased tension with the neighbouring island of Taiwan as Beijing waits to see what impact the Biden administration will have on China-US relations.
