A dam in northern Syria has been damaged, prompting concerns about the safety of critical facilities in both Syria and Turkey.
The water submerged houses, swamped streets and engulfed fields, forcing people who have already endured war and an earthquake to evacuate.

But concern over the potential of new catastrophe does not stop at the border.
Officials say they are checking around 140 dams and reservoirs in the south and east of Turkey.

Al Jazeera's Sami Zeidan reports from Adana, Turkey.
