A super moon lit up the night sky in cities around the world, from Caracas, Venezuela to Istanbul, Turkey.

A super moon refers to a full moon that occurs when the moon’s orbit is closest to Earth, making it appear larger than normal.

According to NASA, this year’s super moon has been called a “pink super moon” as it appears in April and is named after an American plant, Pink Phlox, which blooms in spring.
