Sunak: Government 'cooperating' with COVID inquiry as deadline extended

The Prime Minister says the government is "considering its position" over releasing Boris Johnson's WhatsApp messages and diaries as the deadline for submitting all information is extended.

Rishi Sunak wouldn't be drawn on the speculation around the former Prime Minister's messages but said the government was "carefully considering its next steps" and was "confident in its position".

He insisted that tens of thousands of documents had already been handed over.

The government has been given two more days to hand over Boris Johnson's unredacted WhatsApp messages and diaries to the COVID Inquiry.
