Sulfur bacteria turns German lake purple

Sure, the Chicago River is dyed green every year for St. Patrick's Day, but have you ever seen a purple body of water?

Visitors flocked to catch the strange site of this mauve-lous lake in the Bavarian alps of Germany.

The lake temporarily turned a deep purple due to sulfur bacteria that normally resides at lower depths, but recently floated up to the surface.
