Sky News' Middle East correspondent Alistair Bunkall witnessed around a hundred arrivals walking out of an RAF Hercules aircraft into the Mediterranean sun, having left the conflict far behind them.

He met Dr Abdraman and his family as they were about to board a flight back to the UK, with his children recalling having heard the "bullets and bombs" in Sudan.
