Sudanese woman, Heba, not only worries about the constant barrage of artillery and gunshots that surround her, but is also concerned about rationing the little food supplies she has to keep herself and her family fed in Khartoum, a city gripped by war for more than two weeks.

"We only eat one meal per day,” said Heba, who works in a telecommunication company.

The 35-year-old and her family left their house, where Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been stationed, and rented a room in another part of Khartoum.

People are risking their lives to work as prices of essential items are rising amid the conflict. Every morning, Sudanese barber, Abdulbaqi, braves the clashes sieging his city and heads to his shop to tend to some customers.

Hundreds of people have been killed and thousands wounded since a long-simmering power struggle between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted into conflict on April 15.
