Stranded workers in Hawke's Bay

Orchard workers had to scramble onto the rooves of cars to escape rising flood waters as they waited for help to arrive in Hawke's Bay.

One of the company’s directors says they’re doing “everything they can” to try and reach them.

At least 10 people can be seen sitting on top of small dwellings on the banks of the Tūtaekurī River near Hastings.
