To show solidarity with protesting farmers, several former sports stars have come out and are protesting against the government. A group of top sportspersons and coaches from Punjab have decided to return prestigious awards that they have won. This group includes Olympic hockey player and Arjuna awardee Sajjan Singh Cheema, wrestler and Padma Shri awardee Kartar Singh, Olympic gold medalist hockey player Gurmail Singh, and former Indian hockey captain Rajbir Kaur.
