The company SpaceX saw its first global launch of the year from Cape Canaveral. The Falcon 9 rocket contained a Turkish civilian telecommunications satellite owned by Turksat that will service Turkey, parts of north Africa, continental Europe, and the Middle East. Turkey became the latest country to take advantage of the Block 5 Falcon 9 capabilities that allow smaller countries to access space.
