Socialist Party MAS sweeps Bolivia elections

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales may be in exile, but his MAS party is celebrating following a massive electoral victory in the country’s latest presidential elections. Luis Arce, Morales’ former finance minister, took more than 50 percent of the votes giving a clear pathway to victory, following the US-backed coup of Morales. This victory is heralded by the indigenous people of Bolivia as a triumph for them. Patricio Zamarano of the Council on Hemispheric Affairs shares his expertise.
