Small businesses fear looming end of federal wage and rent subsidy programs

As the pandemic's fourth wave continues to grip parts of Canada, small and medium-sized businesses are waiting for the federal government to announce an extension of pandemic benefits.

The crucial wage and rent subsidy programs are set to wrap up in 3 weeks.

While Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland can extend it until November, beyond that requires parliamentary approval.

With no date set for the House of Commons to sit again, businesses owners are left to worry about the months ahead. Mike Le Couteur reports.
