An Alberta First Nation is taking what it believes will be a precedent-setting step towards Indigenous sovereignty and reconciliation within the country's justice system.

The Siksika First Nation has hired a law firm to create the country's first-ever First Nation bylaw prosecutor's office.

Global's Heather Yourex-West explains how lawyers will represent the First Nation, instead of the Crown, in order to enforce local band council resolutions and bylaws.
