The UK government advice is to throw lateral flow tests into the bin after use but with millions of people using the tests that creates a lot of plastic waste.

The UK government say that they work with manufacturers to make tests more sustainable while making sure they stay safe, effective and don’t create any biohazard issues.

But some parts of the test can be recycled and one company is recycling the tests to make benches, dog kennels and plant pots.
