It has been 40 years since Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms was enshrined in the Constitution.

The Queen and former prime minister Pierre Trudeau signed the proclamation on April 17, 1982.

But Indigenous people and racialized communities were given little consideration back then and years later, some people say the Charter still falls short. Eric Sorensen reports.
