Police in Serbia arrested a suspect in the country's second mass shooting in two days on Friday that left at least eight people dead and 14 injured.

According to local reports, the suspect was involved in an altercation in a school yard late Thursday and left, but returned with an assault rifle and a handgun. He then opened fire and continued to shoot people at random from a moving vehicle.

President Aleksander Vucic said it was second gun attack to take place in just two days. The first occurred at a school on Wednesday that left at least nine dead, including eight students.

In response to the shootings, Vucic proposed multiple measures to improve gun control and bolster security. Among the measures was what he called a "practical disarmament" of Serbia, as well as more frequent medical and psychological checks of gun owners. While the president is largely a ceremonial figure, he still wields considerable power as head of the ruling party.
