Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic declared victory in a snap parliamentary election on Sunday, after pollsters projected his ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) was on track to easily win.
Vucic said an alliance headed by SNS, 'Serbia Must Not Stop' would hold a majority in parliament and there was already "important work" to do on the day after the election.
In a separate press conference, observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said they have registered the misuse of public resources, a lack of separation between official functions and campaign activities, and intimidation and pressure on voters, including cases of vote buying.
“Yesterday's results have shown that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) didn't just verify its political power, but also strengthened it, considering they're victorious on all levels when they're 11 years in power and had a very turbulent political year,” Centre for Free Elections and Democracy analyst Bojan Klacar said.
