On 1 April, a new hate crime law will be introduced in Scotland. The rules will apply in people's private homes and online.

The legislation criminalises threatening or abusive behaviour based on characteristics including age, disability, sexual orientation and transgender identity.

There are fears innocent people could end up on police databases with controversial new hate crime laws in Scotland being weaponised to "settle scores".
