Scholz's Washington visit: German leader meeting president Biden

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is meeting the US President in Washington DC to discuss the conflict in Ukraine as well as Israel’s war on Gaza. It's Scholz’s third visit to Washington since becoming Chancellor in 2021, and comes amid growing concern in Ukraine that Western support could be drying up. Republicans in the US Congress have blocked aid packages for Kyiv, while Scholz has struggled to convince European leaders to increase funding to Ukraine.
