पांच राज्यों- छत्तीसगढ़, मध्य प्रदेश, राजस्थान, तेलंगाना और मिजोरम में जारी विधानसभा चुनाव के बीच कांग्रेस को बड़ा झटका लगा है. नेशनल हेराल्ड मामले में प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ED) ने मंगलवार को (21 नवंबर) को यंग इंडियन (YIL) और एसोसिएटेड जर्नल्स लिमिटेड (AJL) की साढ़े सात सौ करोड़ रुपये की संपत्ति जब्त की है. सूत्रों ने बताया कि कुर्क की गई अचल संपत्तियों में नेशनल हेराल्ड का दिल्ली में आईटीओ स्थित कार्यालय परिसर, लखनऊ के कैसरबाग के पास मॉल एवेन्यू स्थित नेहरू भवन और मुंबई में हेराल्ड हाउस शामिल हैं.

ईडी ने एक बयान में आरोप लगाया कि इस मामले में अंशधारक और कांग्रेस को चंदा देने वालों से एजेएल और पार्टी ने ठगी की. ईडी ने एजेएल और यंग इंडियन कंपनी के खिलाफ संपत्ति कुर्क करने का आदेश धनशोधन निवारण अधिनियम (PMLA) के तहत जारी किया था. एजेएल की 691.9 करोड़ और यंग इंडियन की 90 करोड़ रुपये की संपत्ति जब्त की गई. नेशनल हेराल्ड की प्रकाशक एसोसिएटेड जर्नल लिमिटेड है और इसका स्वामित्व यंग इंडियन प्राइवेट लिमिटेड के पास है.

Congress has suffered a major setback amid the ongoing assembly elections in five states - Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram. In the National Herald case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday (21 November) has seized assets worth Rs 750 crore of Young Indian (YIL) and Associated Journals Limited (AJL). Sources said that the attached immovable properties include National Herald's office complex at ITO in Delhi, Nehru Bhawan at Mall Avenue near Kaiserbagh in Lucknow and Herald House in Mumbai.

In a statement, the ED alleged that AJL and the party cheated the shareholders and donors to the Congress in this case. ED had issued an order to attach assets against AJL and Young Indian Company under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Assets worth Rs 691.9 crore of AJL and Rs 90 crore of Young Indian were seized. National Herald is published by Associated Journal Limited and owned by Young Indian Private Limited.
