NATO marks its 75th anniversary as foreign ministers discuss greater long-term support for Ukraine. The alliance was founded after the Second World War to counter the perceived threat posed by the Soviet Union, and as it looks ahead to future challenges, its members are demanding Germany play a bigger role. At a ceremony in Brussels, NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg stressed the value of unity between the members of the alliance. We spoke to DW’s Brussels bureau chief Alexandra von Nahmen on the future of NATO, and look back at its evolving purpose with reporting from DW’s Teri Schultz.
