Russian reservists undertook combat training in the Russia-controlled part of Donetsk region of Ukraine on Tuesday.

The men were recently drafted under Russian President Vladimir Putin’s order of partial mobilization and moved to areas close to the combat zone of the ''special military operation,” as Moscow refers to its campaign in Ukraine.

Putin ordered to mobilize 300,000 personnel on Sept. 21. More than 200,000 have been drafted by Oct. 4, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu reported on Tuesday.

One recruit, who only gave his name as Vladimir, seemed confident in Putin's mobilization plan and the overall strategy in Russia's conflict with Ukraine. "If he (Putin) ordered mobilization — not a total but a partial one — it means everything is not that scary. It means he knows what he is doing. He is a clever person," Vladimir said.
