Russia is about to embark on the risky rescue of two cosmonauts and one astronaut stuck on the International Space Station (ISS), who have been stranded since December of last year after their original Soyuz capsule was hit by a microscopic meteoroid.

The operation involves sending an empty Soyuz space capsule to the ISS to bring the men back.

Jackson Proskow explains why the crew members need help to get back home, the concerns about the mission, the timeline and who else is being left behind.
