Very simply, a falling rupee means that our imports become more expensive, like fruits, vegetables, oil and that which means prices of many everyday items go up. For many Indian students studying abroad, this is a big nightmare because they end up spending much more. The rupee has lost over 11 per cent of its value in a year. But India is not alone. Other currencies like the pound and the yen have fallen against a strengthening dollar.
